Role: Compliance & Logistics Specialists

Our client is an International trading business based in Central London and are currently looking for a compliance and logistics specialist to support the corporate logistics team which is responsible for trade compliance for the business and its affiliates. The department handles export controls and sanctions, as well as customs regulations, and inventory risk management activity. As well as it covers project work such as investment (before and after), improving existing trade, and creating new business.
In this role you will be working to assist the team with trade compliance and logistics support. The team supports the trade and investment activities for the EMEA business, its affiliates, the regional headquarters, and head office with all areas of logistics and supply chain.
*Supporting the business departments with compliance procedures, customs issues, such as customs valuation, classification, special customs authorization and other import / export requirements updating advice / documentation, export controls and sanctions as necessary.
*Supporting the business departments, affiliates, and Head Office with logistics related queries and tasks.
*Improving Logistics and Risk Management knowledge and skills in the Corporate Logistics dept. and the company through attending and giving seminars.
*Improving / creating materials to help support the Corporate Logistics depts. activities.
*Promoting system implementation and maintenance to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the activities of the Corporate Logistics Dept.
*Managing departmental administrative requirements as necessary.
*Previous experience in the logistics of international trading / investment companies including the use and applications of incoterms, international payment practices, shipping line, airline and port ways of working, customs, customs related documentation, insurance, export controls and sanctions procedures.
*Good awareness of FTAs and GSPs and their requirements.
*Well-organized with the ability to prioritize and to use their initiative, able to shift priorities within strict timeframes and have a systemized approach to work as necessary.
*Highly numerical and analytical with presentation and report writing skills. IT skills including using Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
*Must be fluent in written and spoken English. Additional European languages are an advantage but not essential
*Extensive Customs, Transportation / Forwarding experience in the international logistics industry
*Experience in working within a multinational trading environment, within an international Transport/Logistics team with involvement in customs procedures.
*Working with both EU and non-EU Forwarders, Customs and other related parties.
*Must be educated to degree level or equivalent.
